Hollywood’s Planning & Development Board recently approved a 280 unit, 8-story multifamily development on an 8.2 acre underdeveloped parcel located within the Oakwood Activity Center, a large open-air shopping center with a Regal Cinema, Dave & Busters and Home Depot.
The proposed project fits nicely within the City’s efforts to redevelop mixed-uses in underutilized commercial and industrial areas; the Oakwood Activity Center land use designation was approved by the City Commission in 2021, and the Planned Development zoning and Master Plan of Oakwood approved in 2023. The development includes 353 parking spaces in structured parking garage; amenities include a pool deck, pedestrian plaza, swimming pool and game room. Of the 280 units, 178 are studios or one-bedrooms, and 102 are two-bedrooms.
Conditions of approval include continuing to work with City staff on ways to improve internal connectivity, especially as relates to pedestrianization efforts on the adjacent park and lake, as well as including public art as part of the design package, presumably prior to when the project is heard by the City Commission.
